Terms of Use

By using Alden you agree to these terms.

What Alden is

Alden is an entertainment and companionship app powered by artificial intelligence. Your companion is not a real person. It is a language model, it will tell you so if you ask, and nothing it says should be treated as coming from a human being.

What Alden is not

Alden is not a therapist, a counsellor, a doctor, a lawyer, or a crisis service, and it is not a substitute for any of them. Do not rely on it for medical, legal, financial, or mental health advice.

If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line immediately. In the United States you can call or text 988. Alden will point you toward real help, but it cannot provide it.

Your account

You need an Apple account to use Alden, and you must be at least 18. Keep your device secure: anyone who can unlock it can read your conversations.

Acceptable use

Do not use Alden to generate sexual content involving minors, to plan violence or other crimes, to harass anyone, or to attempt to extract or misuse the underlying models. We may suspend accounts that do. Your companion will decline sexually explicit requests; that is intended behaviour and not a fault.

Availability

Alden depends on third-party AI services and can be interrupted or changed without notice. We do not guarantee that it will always be available, or that any particular response will be accurate, appropriate, or useful.

Liability

Alden is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Ending it

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or end access if these terms are broken.
